- powers and abilities Yuri has something called a Bodhi Blastia! Blastia are able to channel Aer and convert them into power, among other things necessary for survival. This is the game’s method for justifying the use of Artes, the standard Tales Of series means of attack. Yuri can amplify the hit of his sword, axe, or fists with his blastia, but will only be bringing his sword and hands into the fray. He cannot cast spells or healing of any kind, aside from any healing items he might bring on arrival. An example of his blastia’s power is how a normal slash from his sword turns into a one-hit K.O. by utilizing it while swinging, and can be combined with other attacks and so on. (Using artes does not make for a one-hit K.O. usually, it's just amplified power.) Yuri fights very inelegantly, as if he has no proper sword training. He’s often seen performing in battle, doing a one-handstand to get back up on his feet to flipping around his sword as if it were more of a juggler’s toy.

You guys have no idea how lucky you have it
This? This is the most convenient thing I’ve ever seen
My world had … ways to communicate across distance, sure, but it was made for ... someone had a cute word for it on the network while I was reading it earlier. 'Under-evolved dummies'. So let's use that.
So, no one wants to hear my story and I won’t understand yours, so let’s have a little poll. I’ll go first so you don’t feel embarrassed taking up the mantle.
[ He gives a pause as he thinks up what would be the best, non-invasive but still interesting question to have. ]
Do you have a reason to stay or leave?
Like, is it better here than it is back home? There’s gotta be a few of you, right? Who enjoy this place more than home. Look at it; It’s lush… beautiful, in a weird kind of foreign planet way.
I have to be back home on the double, but that’s kind of world-saving priorities, you know?
You get it.
What about you then?
Did you find paradise here?

Blastia are able to channel Aer and convert them into power, among other things necessary for survival. This is the game’s method for justifying the use of Artes, the standard Tales Of series means of attack. Yuri can amplify the hit of his sword, axe, or fists with his blastia, but will only be bringing his sword and hands into the fray. Yuri fights very inelegantly, as if he has no proper sword training. He’s often seen performing in battle, doing a one-handstand to get back up on his feet to flipping around his sword as if it were more of a juggler’s toy.
● strengths:
- the will to change
Yuri has an influence on the people surrounding him that’s so subtle, that they might not realize it. His open attitude and will to follow his own path means Yuri often entices people to change on their own, or he puts them in the right direction to do so with his blunt attitude that turns reassuring when the other needs it. He refuses to feed into people’s vices and can quietly steer them on the right path, making him a touch manipulative in a good way. Yuri might be young, but his words and actions from his life experiences have made him a profoundly influential person.
- perception check
A part of Yuri’s charisma is that he’ll bolster past people’s weaknesses and bring to light what’s really the issue. He can read others well and guesses at motivations, personalities, and when to quit on the fly. A good example is with Zagi, who he quickly realizes is a threat worth dealing with due to the man’s mania about killing Flynn Scifio. His perceiving abilities with others can either let him read them like a book or at least flip through the first few pages, and often decide whether he’ll be on the same ground as them or not.
- chaotic good
Yuri won’t let people who’ve done wrong but are protected by the ‘rules’ to get away with the terrible things they’ve done. He murders two people in cold blood purely because they won’t be punished for their crimes and will continue to slaughter other human lives in pursuit of their research and their evil deeds. Because of this, he often ends up in trouble, but he doesn’t put a pin in what he believes in. He believes in action versus the process of the law, especially when it comes to people it protects who’ve done wrong. His moral compass is always pointing in one direction, even if it’s not strictly moral.
● weaknesses:
- chaotic good is sometimes bad
Yuri sometimes won’t think before he acts, he’ll just take the information that he has heedlessly without hesitation for his future taken into account. This does end him up in trouble, a lot, to the point that he gets a wanted poster in his name and he’s definitely held accountable for his crimes. On the opposite end, Yuri will think before he acts and proceed in ruining his reputation and standing anyway for the sake of what he believes is right, whether or not it could end poorly for him. In that way, he’s brash and risky.
- morally immoral
Yuri has absolutely no problem with murder or starting bar fights because he’s bored. This ties in with the first, that he follows the will of his head and heart in terms of people singling out others because of their weaknesses. As a member of the Imperial Guard in the First Strike movie, he starts a bar brawl because a couple of men were laughing about conning someone. He murders two men in cold blood for worse crimes. If Yuri were faced with someone who, in game, was exploiting the weaker or hurting/killing others, he would have no problem seeking them out and fighting back, even with grave consequences at hand.
- lone wanderer
For all of Yuri’s good traits in helping the people around him, he starts off and strikes out as a lone wolf and prefers being alone to being someone’s problem. While he’ll accept help when necessary, he has no reason to stay in communal housing and would prefer to be homeless over having his back turned to people he doesn’t know or trust. Despite his ability to read people, he is inherently distrusting and a bit of a half glass empty kind of person. He’ll do this against the better judgment most reasonable people have because of how his home life has informed him how to be.
